welcome to nokia's quality control seminar for subcontractors. this part is dealing with quality testing. i'm Mika Romppanen from nokia and my job title is testing engineer, it means i'm in charge of testing process. i'm going to introduce our latest quality testing procesess to you. feel free to stop me anytime for questions. with testing we want to make sure that our products are reliable and durable. we use several tests, like Dropping test, Twisting test, Humidity resistance test and Keypad pressing test. we are utiling testing data when we are designing new models, because we allways want to improve our quality. -----kysymys in a nutshell, with testing we are trying to find weak points from structure and material. we also wan to to know what they are capable of and what not. --------- Hello, my name is Antti Lipponen, I am a testing engineer at Nokia and I'm going to tell you about these testing processes more specifically. First of all, I'd like to tell about the classic way to break your phone: By dropping it. As you might have already guessed, we have a process to simulate that. The phone is taken up to two meters and dropped on a concrete floor. ----kysymys, and then what? it's broken? There is a high speed camera taking pictures of the process so we can see just how the phone reacts on the impact. We also have a machine to put great amount of weight on the phone, so it can simulate the situation where you sit on your phone. We can also test how new materials act. --- kysymys: But do you have a test to simulate phone wearing in ones pocket? Yes, we actually have a machine to simulate that. It's a big long cloth bag, which the phone is inserted in. Then we roll the bag back and forth to make the phone move and seem like it's wearing in a pocket. We also have a key tester to rapidly do many thousand presses. So basically, we are simulating normal daily life of a mobile phone in a controlled environment.
